The Senior Saints will sponsor, Mental Health Issues, on Thursday, Nov.17th, from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. The speaker is Cathy Williamson from the Department of Mental Health. She will address issues that families and communities face with mental disorders that affect our love ones of all ages. She will focus on the need to erase the stigma & shame that is associated with mental illness. Everyone is invited. Refreshments will be served.
November 17th is "GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE-OUT DAY". Please remind everyone of the hazards of second hand smoke.
The Boy Scouts of America provides a program for young men that builds character, trains them to be responsible citizens, & develops personal fitness. For over 100 yrs, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities & lifelong values with fun. Annual Christmas Tree Decorating Event — Each family, or individuals is ask bring an ornament, decorated with your family name. You will hang your ornaments on the our 9 ft. lighted Christmas Tree in the Narthex (Foyer) after service on Dec. 11th & Dec. 18th. We want full participation. Let’s make this a fun event.

Nominees for Los Angeles Superior Court Civil Grand Jurors - If you are retired and would like to serve as a grand juror, please contact the church office at (310) 537-8777 to leave your name and number. You will be contacted for an interview with Judge Karen Ackerson-Brazille & Judge Laura Walton. None of the following must apply to you:
(1) You are not serving as a trial juror in any court of this state. (2) You have been discharged as a grand juror in any court of the state within 1 year. (3) You have been convicted of malfeasance in office or any felony or other high crime. (4) You are serving as an elected public officer.
Compensation: Pay is $60 each day in attendance, plus mileage & free parking.
An AARP Event — Pastor Walker and the New Philadelphia will host the AARP event, “The Real Role of Parents and Grandparents in educating the Next Generation”, on Monday, November 7, 2011, from 10:00 a.m.—1: 00 p.m. Pick up a flyer in the Foyer.
Blood Pressure Screenings offered on Sunday November 13th and signup for flu shots offered on December 4th will begin. Health and Wellness need a number for the nurse who will bring the vaccine by the end of November.

Bus Transportation to the Annual Conference on October 27th
24-10-2011, 21:11PermalinkIn the evening at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Walker is the pastor in charge for the Sons of Thunder Men's Night.
New Philadelphia has bus transportation available for both of these events. The bus holds 47 passengers. Those who signed up have first priority. There are 19 seats open for the morning trip, and 37 open seats for the evening service.
The cost is $10.00 for a single trip, and $15.00 to go to both events. The fee will be collected as you board the bus. Please have correct change. No credit please.
For the morning trip - Please arrive to the church by 8:15 a.m. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. Bus will return you back to the church by 1:30 p.m.
For the evening trip - Please arrive to the church by 5:15 p.m. The bus will leave at 5:30 p.m. Bus will return you back to the church after the Sons of Thunder service.
