Rev Berry
Rev. Alvena Renette Berry, MDiv, M.A.

After many, many, many years of running from her call to ministry, Rev. Berry was convinced of being hand selected by God to carry His Word and set apart to do the work after surviving a helicopter crash in August 1999. Shortly thereafter in 1999 she accepted her call to ministry and was licensed to Exhort in the C.M.E. Church. Rev. Berry was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in 2009 in the Pacific Northwest Conference. She serves as an Associate Minister at New Philadelphia A.M.E. where she currently ministers with the Class Leaders.

Rev. Berry graduated from Artesia High School (Lakewood, CA) in 1982. She earned a B.S. in 1987 from California State Polytechnic University (Cal Poly, Pomona) in Aero-Mechanical Engineering Technology. In 2005 she earned an M.A. from Washington School of Professional Psychology (Seattle) in Mental Health Counseling. Then, in 2009 she earned an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.
Rev. Berry was employed as an Engineer for nearly 18 years. Her most enjoyable employment was with The Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington where she worked and traveled extensively as a Tool Design Engineer, Retrofit Engineer and Logistics Engineer for both commercial and military aircraft programs. It was there she realized her love for people was deepening and the call to serve was gaining clarity and momentum.

Rev. Berry finds herself desiring to teach, preach, encourage, visit and tend to God’s people and their needs. She has served children, teens and adults in various capacities in the church and community. Since being healed of Lymphoma in 2010, she now has a new zeal for living and serving. Her compassion for those who are underserved, left out and not allowed to participate often leads her to advocate and fight, even in the church. She enjoys family, close friends, traveling, adventure, meeting new people and learning new things.

Rev. Berry is a native Californian. She is the youngest of six children, Aunt to one nephew and Great-Aunt to one niece and twin nephews. Being raised in a family of devoted Christians, she accepted Christ, confessed her faith in Him and was baptized at an early age. Rev. Berry recently discovered that she hails from a rich heritage of preachers on both sides of the family, for at least four generations back. Rev. Berry is unmarried and content, yet absolutely open to being found by the right man of God!! Rev. Berry currently resides in Los Angeles with her mother.

Ephesians 3:20-21 (KJV) “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” This scripture keeps Rev. Berry grounded and rooted in the fact that her entire life story has been orchestrated by God. Rev. Berry admits, “Sometimes I was aware of the move of God, but many times I had no clue.”
